Carers of Barking and Dagenham

Carers of Barking and Dagenham offer a range of services, information, support and advocacy to unpaid carers who care for a person who is disabled, living with a long term illness or terminal illness.  We also support young carers who care for someone in their family.

The following are the projects we provide:

Adult Carers

  • Memory Lane Resource Centre offering day provision for people living with a dementia, and Carers' Dementia Advisors
  • Comprehensive Income Maximisation and Welfare Benefits Service
  • In partnership with the Local Parent Participation Forum 'Just Say' for parents of disabled children
  • IASS/IS supporting parents and young people with Special Educational Needs in schools 
  • Carer peer support groups
  • Carers social and leisure activities groups
  • Trips
  • Celebration parties and events
  • Shopping trips
  • Hospital discharge, supporting carers who find themselves in a caring role for the first time 
  • Carers Health and Wellbeing Project

Young Carers Project age 6-25 offering fun activities and targeted one to one support

  • King Georges Hospital - 4th Wednesday of every month 10am - 12 noon

  • Excel Women's Centre, 13 London Road, Barking IG11 8AA - 1st Tuesday of every month 12.30pm - 2.30pm
  • Barking Learning Centre, 2 Town Square, Barking IG11 7NB - Every Thursday 10.30am - 12 noon
  • Dagenham Library, 1 Church Elm Lane, Dagenham RM10 9QS - Every Friday 10am - 12 noon
