All of the PAs accredited by London Borough of Barking and Dagenham must go through a number of checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check provided free of charge by the Council and a reference check.
PAs are also required to sign up to a Code of Conduct with the Council to ensure that they meet the Council’s standards of care, including the promotion of rights and independence, confidentiality, safeguarding, and risk.
It should be noted that PAs on this website are not employed by the Council. A PA will be employed by the individual person who requires the support or by the appointed ‘suitable person’ on behalf of the individual if the individual has not got mental capacity to direct their own support.
Whilst the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham takes every care it is solely the responsibility of the employers to check that the information is correct, the employer should undertake those checks that they feel appropriate as they are employing the person e.g. the right to work in the UK.
